Nephi’s Desire
1 Nephi 10:17
“…having heard all the words of my father…I Nephi was desirous also that I might see, and hear, and know of these things…”

Bible: New Testament
Matt 16:13-17, 20
The reason God does not force his reality upon us is because he wants us to decide for ourselves that there is a God and who he is. It is a test. We are being tested, not God. I think we get this mixed up. We think that God or his Specific Causes have the burden of proof. We think that unless they prove to us beyond a shadow of our own doubt that God exists, what his character exactly is, and how he is presently interacting with us, that we do not have to believe. But the reverse is true. The burden of proof rests upon our shoulders. It is we who have to prove to God that we know him by all the clues he has left for us to discern. How we interpret all of the privileges we enjoy and to whom we attribute the source, speaks of our own faith, intelligence, and value.

Matt 16:13-19
When we identify God accurately and attribute our privileges to him, he will identify us accurately and give us authority on earth to stand in his name. He will continue to guide us through personal revelation.

Bible: Old Testament
"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." ~Joshua 25:15
